Guyana
Birding the Last Grand Wilderness
For birders and nature lovers, Guyana is an unspoiled green gem. A staggering 85% of this country’s forest, flanking the northern Amazon basin, remains pristine—millions of years in the making! On this 12-day Birding By Bus adventure, we will embrace Guyana’s wild side, from coastal mangroves to deep rainforests, and explore a fascinating interior savanna roamed by giant anteaters. We’ll seek out the Guianan Cock-of-the-rock—a preposterously beautiful performer—along with dozens of other feathered specialties, including the endangered Red Siskin and Sun Parakeet. We’ll boat along misty rivers lined by Guianan red howler monkeys and maybe even spot a Harpy Eagle. And, by small plane, we aim to land at Kaieteur Falls, the world’s tallest single-drop waterfall, visited so infrequently that we will practically have its spectacle to ourselves.
